Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family work and involvement in the community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who raised him on their farm in Eufala. Another reason for his football career was that he is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. After that, he began his professional career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
