Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She's the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author television host, and proprietor of the liberally independent online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and immigrated to England in the year 16. In Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. The first non-native English speaking student to graduate, she was voted to the presidency of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer after graduation and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years after, she created an online platform to voice opinions that included criticisms about political events. Her status as a celebrity helped in bringing on a host of well-known contributors to share their opinions about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna was famous in 2003, when she ran independently in a recall campaign in California for the seat of then-Governor Davis. The project she headed was the Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential female on the planet in 2009 and Guardian added her to the Top 100 List of Media the same year. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media group which included many existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was closely associated with her father it was the bond she had with her mother, which formed her life. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. The British native moved to England when she was 16, to pursue her education and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined The Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third and first female to serve as the president. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. She worked as a music critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation.
